Hello, I am an educated (master’s degree) single working mom. I worked my way through school. (Single not by choice. My Finance' left me for another woman on my wedding day. I was already pregnant when he hooked up with her.)

That same year (a severe storm/tornado) hit the house I purchased with my own money. I worked hard for over 8 years to get the money in the bank to buy this home. After a long pregnancy, and with bills that piled up from a complicated birth... I was left with a new born and no way to fix the roof that was severely damaged in the storm. The HOA demanded a certain style roof. A year of trying to fight the insurance and crying, begging, and pleading with the bank to please give me a loan to fix it... still I can't fix it. It seems hopeless. I can barely put food on the table and pay the bills as it is. I'm struggling every day. This is our home. Our only home. Without it we would be homeless. (I can't find my baby's father. I have exhausted all the money I had in savings trying to get lawyers to make him pay child support. He literally has vanished.)

The HOA is pressuring us to get this roof fixed.

The water is damaging the house more and more every day. I have exhausted everything I can and have tried every legal means I know to get the roof fixed.

I have asked local charities, but I was told I quite literally don't qualify for any single mother assistance programs. At least not any currently available in my area because of my income, high degree of education, and do not meet requirements for specialized specific/sponsored group help programs. I don't qualify for any hand up in their eyes because I'm also not on any government assistance programs.

 

I'm by no means asking for a hand out. I'm just asking for help.

I need this roof fixed. The entire roof is damaged and it's Spanish tile. (Required by HOA). I'm receiving letters from the HOA DEMANDING I get this roof fixed. They said they will start fining me if it's not done soon. Fines, I really cannot afford. I have worked so hard to avoid being on food stamps and on food assistance programs. I am not on government assistance. I really would like to continue staying "out of the system". I pay my bills every month (just barely). I budget, I don't buy expensive things, I use coupons. I don't have fancy clothes, I ride the bus... I'm a responsible, level headed, intelligent, mature, woman.

For the sake of my child I am asking for help.

 

The bank says it won't help.

The insurance company won't help.

My family won't help/can't help.

My baby's father cannot be found.

 

Please, if you can find it in your heart to help us fix our roof. I would be very grateful. We are truly damsels in distress.
